Sodium petroleum sulfonate is an anti-rust and emulsifying additive with good oil solubility. Using heavy alkyl benzene as raw material by fuming sulfuric acid or sulfur trioxide reaction, the acid residue or free sulfur trioxide is separated and discarded, and the obtained sulfonic acid is neutralized with sodium hydroxide, refined and dehydrated.
It has good anti-rust properties for ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Generally used as a short-term anti-rust agent between processes, it is widely used in replacement type anti-rust oil and metal cutting emulsified oil, and has anti-rust, emulsification and lubrication effects, in addition, it can be used as detergent and emulsifier. With the increase of molecular weight, the anti-rust property increased and the hydrophilicity decreased.
